Preacher gets death for burning woman
LAGOS, Nigeria, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- A Nigerian preacher has been sentenced to death for burning women he said were adulterous, and killing one.
Emeko Ezeuko, known to his followers in the Christian Praying Assembly as the Rev. King, yelled out that he was innocent as a court in Lagos imposed the sentence, the BBC reported. He was convicted of murder and attempted murder.
In July, Ezeuko accused six women in the congregation of adultery, poured gasoline on them and lit it. Ann Uzor suffered fatal burns while the others survived.
Ezeuko, who told his followers he was Jesus Christ, said he had the power to punish sinners.
Ezeuko's lawyer says he may file an appeal.
